Job Duties
:
|
• Developing, maintaining and executing a comprehensive Applied Research Strategy for the Gas Processing Center which identifies and effectively addresses the broad Asset Management and Sustainable Development needs of Qatari industry • Actively soliciting input into the Applied Research Strategy from all stakeholders including Industry, Joint Appointment Faculty and Center professional staff • Developing a portfolio of projects and consulting consistent with the Applied Research Strategy which includes: o Short term consulting o Projects for individual sponsors o Joint industry projects of interest to multiple sponsors o Projects that are of a long term in nature, which are of broad benefit to industry and Qatari society, and which build core competencies within the Center • Marketing projects to all Center constituents including Consortium members and other Qatar-based, regional and international companies • Securing funding, staffing and overseeing the execution of individual applied research projects • Assuring that the staffing for each project is the most qualified by drawing from local and international resources • Assuring that all projects are executed in a highly professional manner by defining and administering professional project execution policies, procedures and guidelines, designed to assure that projects are completed on time, within budget and are of the highest quality • Maintaining close working relationships with other Consortia worldwide • Serving as a member of the Center Technical Advisory Committee • Providing general management of the Projects section of the Center including planning, budgeting, execution and financial results of this area of responsibility • Working effectively as a member of the Center senior management team to assure that the Center offers an integrated suite of products and services aimed at achieving the overall mission of the Center and assuring that the Center is viewed as providing excellent quality

Qualifications:
|
• An advanced degree in engineering (preferably Chemical Engineering) and ideally a PhD • A minimum of 5 years experience in the process industries and preferably experience in one of the gas processing industries • Experience defining, developing, executing and managing applied research projects • Proven experience and skill in planning, budgeting and managing and ideally having prior financial responsibility for a group • Proven leadership abilities including the ability to work well with diverse constituencies and to guide multiple parties to reach consensus • Proven creative abilities • Ability to integrate the Projects area of the Center with the overall vision and mission of the Center • Proven ability to see the big picture and to translate this into practical and effective plans and actions
