The last decade has seen a great deal of advancement in the field of nanotechnology such as nanoparticles Nano layers , nanodevices etc .Currently, nanotechnology is predicted to be dominant in the next 20-30 years, in all fields of science and technology. A great deal of interest has been developed recently in the area of nanostructured carbon materials. In the recent years, carbon nanostructures have attained a considerable amount of commercial importance since the discovery of buckminsterfullerene, carbon nanotubes, and carbon Nanofibers, and graphene. These materials have a wide variety of properties and features that are of interest in electronic, mechanical, optical and chemical applications. In this presentation, a brief description of production of micro and nano materials by different techniques will be given. The design and fabrication of different types of CVD Reactors for production of micro and nano carbon materials will be also covered. Furthermore, the synthesis of different types of nanocatlysts such as metal oxide, metal carbide, metal sulfide and metal nitride as well as nanocomposite, nanosensor, inorganic and organic membrane, filters and corrosion inhibitors will be highlighted. Finally, the application of these materials in different areas such as water treatment, water desalination, water disinfection, heat transfer, sensing, petroleum refinery and corrosion will be described.
