Planning and Quality
Quality and Certification Unit engages in continuous improvement of Quality, Reliability and integrity of laboratory services at research centers of Qatar University. The unit is responsible for developing standard operating procedures, work instructions for quality assurance and quality control of testing activities.
This unit has facilitated ISO 17025 accreditation for selected testing methods at Biomedical Research Center (BRC), Center for Advanced Materials (CAM), Central Laboratories Unit (CLU), Environmental Science Center (ESC), Gas Processing Center (GPC), and Laboratory Animal Research Center (LARC) and it regularly conducts reviews, quality checks, internal audits and takes appropriate corrective actions in order to enhance the competence of the system and to ensure that labs are complying with the requirements of national and international standards. Quality and Certification Unit also strives toward achieving other globally recognized accreditation and certification that will contribute to promote Qatar University and its international recognition as a leading higher education and research institution.
Quality and Certification works on optimizing and upgrading the working knowledge and performance of technical staff by arranging relevant training workshops and technical discussions
Tasks
- To formulate policies, procedures, work instructions for quality assurance and quality control of all the testing activities.
- To monitor, review, audit, evaluate and improve in order to enhance the competence of the system to carry out high quality tests.
- To ensure that labs are complying with the requirements of international standards in order to achieve globally recognized accreditation and certification.
- To educate and train technical staff performing tests, and make them capable of producing accurate and reliable results.
- To help centers in developing strong relationship with industry and community to serve their testing needs.
