Research Innovation and Intellectual Property (IP)

The Innovation and Intellectual Property Office (IIP Office) is the technology transfer office for Qatar University. Its main mission is to protect the intellectual property Rights (IPRs) rights of Qatar University’s researchers and innovators.

Our Mission is to protect the intellectual property (IP) rights of Qatar University and its researchers and innovators and to contribute to the development and enhancement of the economic and social welfare of Qatar.

Research Ethics and Integrity

Ethical Compliance Approval may be required from one or all of the below committees depending on the research project. Separate applications to each of the committees (as required for the research project) must be sent prior to the start of research.

Conflict of Interest

Qatar University recognizes the right of its faculty, employees, students and their dependents to accumulate wealth. However, they must make sure that this right does not cause them to fail at their obligations towards the University.

It is the policy of the University that all perceived, potential or actual conflicts of interests be disclosed to the Office of Research Support. Faculty, staff or students who are unclear as to whether a conflict of interest exists should choose the disclosure path.

The disclosure must be made at the time the conflict of interest arises, or it is recognized that a conflict of interest might be perceived.

Qatar University International Research Collaboration (QU-IRCC)

QU-IRCC is forged by the need to provide opportunities for Qatar and the participating countries seeking solutions to these global challenges and to build on the existing strong collaborations.

Fostering further collaboration between Qatar university and other universities is essential not only for consolidation of research efforts in areas that are high-priority to Qatar and those countries, but is also critical for facilitating researcher and student exchange, and providing an easily accessible platform for research training to graduate students and postdocs.

Material Transfer

Researchers exchange various types of materials with their peers and colleagues throughout the world. Most of the time, the materials are exchanged without an agreement between the researchers, exposing our researchers and University to potential legal liability.

Planning, Quality and Certification

Quality and Certification Unit engages in continuous improvement of quality, reliability and integrity of laboratory services at research centers of Qatar University. The unit is responsible for developing standard operating procedures, work instructions for quality assurance and quality control of testing activities.

Qatar University’s laboratories in the research centers measure up to international standards with the ISO/IEC 17025-2005 accreditation by the American Association for Laboratory Accreditation (A2LA).

Research Risk Management

Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) office provides a healthy, safe and sustainable environment by maintaining the highest possible standards. The office provides services across the University for related matters such as:
