Sustainable Development

On behalf of the Center for Sustainable Development, it is my pleasure to welcome you to the Center’s website. The Center for Sustainable Development was established in 2014, and aims on developing sustainable and integrated solutions for pressing issues relevant to Qatar and the region.

Due to its abundant natural resources, Qatar’s growth has been exponential over the past two decades, and this development is expected to continue for years to come. In order to ensure that this occurs in a sustainable manner, research is needed in areas identified in the Qatar National Vision 2030 and beyond. Through 5 dedicated research programs, focused on Food and Water Security, Renewable Energy, Natural Resource Governance, Algal Technologies, and Waste Management, our Center aims to enable such research. Feel free to read more about these programs on our Research Programs’ Page.

Within these research programs we aim to promote inter-disciplinary research, bringing together national and international academia and industrial partners in both governmental- and industry-funded research projects. We are always looking to expand our number of research partners, so please contact us if you are interested in collaborative research.

I would like to encourage you to visit the rest of our website, in order to become more acquainted with our activities, research focus areas, and projects, through which we strive to ensure sustainable development in Qatar and the region.
