Mission
The Student Housing and Residential Life Department at Qatar University is committed to providing a safe and welcoming community that fosters academic success, campus engagement, and personal development of our students through a wide variety of Co-Curricular activities, educational opportunities, and support services.
Goals
In support the of SLS Division, the Student Affairs Sector, and the Qatar University mission, the Student Housing, and Residential Life Department has three primary goals:
Goal 1: Provide and maintain living and learning facilities that are safe, desirable, and meet the needs of our students.
Goal 2: Provide quality living and learning programming opportunities that foster a sense of belonging, student success, and community engagement.
Goal 3: Invest in the professional and personal development of all staff to maintain the quality of services we offer and enhance the overall student residential experience (Core competencies according to College and University Housing Officers (ACUHO-I).
The following are the student housing priority criteria:
- Students who are on scholarship and housing is part of their scholarship agreement.
- Qatari and resident students who reside more than 50 km away from the University.
- International students.
- Students with special needs. Cases will be referred to as the Inclusion and Special Needs Center to determine eligibility in consultation with the Student Housing and Residential Life Department.
- Students with exceptional circumstances. Cases will be referred to the Student Housing and Residential Life Department to determine eligibility.
- Students who have a higher level of involvement in campus activities and demonstrated outstandinortant skills that a person needs in his/her journey to build his/her leadership capacity.
- Students must be registered for classes during the term of residency.
- Students must be under the University’s sponsorship except for Qatari students and students who are residents of Qatar under their parent’s sponsorship.
- Students must pay the housing fee in full at the start of the semester.
- Students must accept, sign, and abide by all University and Student Housing and Residential Life instructions and procedures.
Required Documents for Housing Assignments
- Two personal photos
- Copy of the student's ID card or a copy of a valid passport.
- Copy of the parent's passport or Qatar ID.
- Acceptance letter for new students from the Admission Department.
- “To Whom It May Concern” letter from the police station affiliated with the actual student’s residence stating the address of the student’s (for Qatari and resident students in Qatar).
Additional documents required for female students:
- Parent/guardian consent form (in writing) to confirm approval that the student is allowed to live in Student Housing. The guardians should be present in person (if residing in Qatar) to submit needed paperwork and fill out the “Departure Permission” form. If the parent/guardian is unable to be present in person, they need to contact Female Student Housing for further arrangements.
Living on campus is very different from living at home—it offers not only a place to eat and sleep but also the chance to be a part of a vibrant community to learn and grow. To facilitate the on-campus living experience for new and returning students, the Student Housing and Residential Life Department offers a reliable and comfortable home base to create a positive living situation.
We provide a number of services and amenities that help make everyday life easy. Some of what we offer includes:
Prayer Room
The Prayer Room is located on the first floor of the building.
Vending Machines
Vending machines are located on the ground floor/lobby area.
Fitness Center
A fully equipped gym located on the first floor of the building.
Television Hall
The TV Hall is located on the ground floor; basic cable TV service is provided.
Study Lounge
The study lounge is equipped with computers for student’s usage.
Programs and Activities
The staff offers social and educational programs encouraging community development based on student’s interests and needs.
Residential Specialist Staff
Staff is available for answering questions and responding to all student’s needs and concerns.
Security
Security staff is available 24 hours inside the student housing buildings.
Parking
Car parking spaces designated for resident students.

Student Housing Fees
- Q.R. 800 per student for a shared room
- Q.R. 2,000 per student for a single room
- The student with a scholarship that covers their housing fees will not be charged
- Fees will be charged at the beginning of each semester
